I've gotten a bit balmy

I don't mean I'm warm. No. What I mean is that my lip balm collection has become ridiculous. Every time I notice a new lip balm has come out or I see one I haven't tried before I get the overwhelming urge to buy it. There and then. No matter how many times I tell myself I've already got plenty.  And I will of course be buying ALL of the Baby Lips when they come out, which is very soon. I buy lip balms from all sorts of different shops, be they more expensive or on the cheap side. Be they balms or butters, tins or tubes, squeezey or twisty. I'll have them sooner or later. I store all the balms that I don't use in a cute little doggy tin (It used to store biscuits at Christmas)  that I keep in my dresser.

I love the Bodyshop, and their lip products are no exception to this. I have 1 lip butter and 3 born lippy tubs. The born lippy tubs smell heavenly; I have Strawberry, Raspberry and Watermelon. The Raspberry one isn't anything magical, but the other two, oh my days. I could sniff them for the rest of my life. They are really moisturising and they last forever, I've had the tubs for a looong time and they show no sign of giving up soon. The lip butter I have is the chocolate scented one. in all honestly I don't know why I bought this, it smells lovely but I don't think I'm really ever going to use it.

The Nivea Lip butters are a massive favourite of mine, I can only hope they bring out more scents. I have the Caramel Cream one and Raspberry Rose ones. I did a post on them awhile ago, so if you want to find out what I think of them you could go back and read it there.

Lip Smackers

I have had these for the longest time, I used to constantly lose them so always had 3 or 4 going at the one time, I've removed the really old ones since its a little gross to use something on your lips for three or four years.( Especially when your only meant to keep them for 24 months) The two I have left are the Sprite one and the Fanta one, they smell beautiful and are quite hydrating. I would say the only thing about them is they leave a colour on your lips, and since the Sprite one is white its really not a good look.

At Christmas I always get lip balms, its one of those things I always get. Last Christmas my mum bought me a pack from Wilkinsons, it had 3 "flavoured" lip balms in it. They are Grape, Strawberry and Watermelon. The only one that is nice smelling is the grape one, its smells lovely. I'm a huge sucker for grape scents. The other two smell a tiny bit sickly, or they don't smell at all.

Another I got for Christmas is one that I don't really use all that often. Its From Avon and is called Sugar Cookie. Its got a really nice scent, it smells just like biscuits do. Smells almost good enough to eat. I don't use this all that often just down the the fact that the smell lingers, so I can smell my biscuit lips for quite a while after I've put it on.

One that I have been using a lot recently is Lips Bee Healthier by Jason. I got this free in a glossy box last year and never got around to using it. It smells just like after eights, its also super moisturising. I switch up the lip balms I use regularly as I find after a month or so my lips get used to the product and start getting sore and dry again.

I wasn't sure if I was going to include this in this post as I wasn't sure if this was a protector for the lips or if it was a product for colour. Jelly Pong Pong Irish Cream Pavlova is such a lovely product, another of which I received in a Glossy Box. It smells like bubble gum and has a slight tint to it. You can apparently use this on your cheeks, but I find that its slightly sticky so would probably be quite hard to apply.

The next I have is a Burts Bees Lip tin. I can not figure out what the smell is, and I wouldn't say its a lovely smell - it smells quite fresh but slightly medically. I love this for the winter as it is really hydrating for your lips and in the colder months my lips need all the help they can get.

The final one I have is the one I am currently using. Its a Cherry Carmex, when I first used this my lips always used to tingle. The memories. It has SPF 15 which is always good to have, don't want to burn your lips in the sun. This small little tube is like the tardis though, I say that as I have been using it for a LONG time and I'm still no where near finishing it.

August Favourites

August has been a month of using more products. I've got into a routine of trying to remember to wash my face both morning and night. And not just cleaning my face with a crappy wipe. Along with that I've been trying out different bits and pieces. Skincare, make-up, body care and so on. I'm going to try and make monthly favourites, and share them all with you but if I've been loving nothing new then I won't make a video. No point in showing the same products over and over.
Any way with out any further rambling, here is the video.

What have your favourites been for this month? Have you tried any of these products?

What I got For My Birthday

I wasn't sure if I was going to call this a "haul", but then I decided to do a separate post and video for things that I bought with my birthday money. Since this year I did get quite a few presents, instead of it just being money. I am so thankful to my friends and family that gave me gifts for my birthday, since I know that they didn't need to or have to. I love each and every thing I got, just as much as I love the people that gave me them.

I'll have up later things that I bought for my birthday, but for now I thought I'd share what I was given.

Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm

I was over the moon when I opened my present from my brother and there sat a beautiful lip balm. I had been lusting after this for months and was so happy thrilled when I saw my brother had bought me this. My mum couldn't understand why I would want a lip balm so much that costs almost £10. I honestly at the time only wanted it because it sounded nice and luxurious. Essie Button had a huge part to play in  me wanting this.
Usually when I put on lip balm I need to reapply it about 10 minutes later. But not with this. I put this on before bed and I can still feel it on my lips when I wake up in the morning. I think that is crazy good. My lips were in a horrible condition, but now, now my lips are happy and healthy.
This may seem like a pricey lip balm, but it is the best bloody lip balm in the world! It comes in a pretty frosted glass jar, that is quite heavy considering the size. It has a lemony sherbety scent. It smells lovely, like a fizzy citrus.
I've had a lot of lip balms in my years, and this feels utterly amazing on the lips. The texture is unlike any other I have had. Its not glossy like all the other balms I have had, its quite matte on the lips. The balm is firm, but when you touch it it softens in your fingers.
If you suffer from dry lips then you need this in your life, you can get it from quite a few places and it costs £9.50. 100% worth it.
Whats your go to, must have lip balm?

Liebster Award

I've been TAGGED!!! I was really excited when I received a tweet from the lovely Stephanie at Scottish Stef's Nails saying that she had nominated me for a Liebster Award. So a massive, huge thank you to Steph for nominating me to do this!
The Liebster Award is a great way of finding new blogs that you may not have otherwise found. And of course to help you learn a little more about the person behind the blog.
There appears to be two different versions of this going around, the one I was nominated in involved 11 facts about me, 11 questions answered and 11 blogs nominated.
Be warned my 11 random facts will suck a huge amount.

So 11 random facts about me

  1. I am extremely lazy
  2. I'm left handed
  3. Moths and chickens terrify me
  4. the first concert I ever went to was Steps and the last one I went to was All Time Low
  5. I love reading books
  6. I enjoy dancing in my room while singing badly to music
  7. I am going to University in September to study Forensic Investigation
  8. I adore mint green tea, or peach tea. YUUUM
  9. I love Teen Wolf, Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries
  10. On another note I also love the more adult True Blood and Game Of Thrones
  11. I have never not had a pet in my whole 18 years of living
Told you they would be rubbish.

Steph's Questions

 1. Do you prefer prints or block colour?

Probably block colour, I'm more of a one colour type of gal and if I am using prints then its 98% of the time animal print.

2. Are you creative, academic or both?

I would like to say I'm a bit of both, but I'm probably more academic than creative. I haven't taken a creative subject for about 2 years. My blog is probably my creative outlet.

3. Name one blogger and their blog that you would recommend?

Ooh, this is a hard one. I have so many favourite blogs, but I would probably say one that I continuously read and read all the posts for would probably be Rhi at Beauty Bucket List

4. What's your favourite song at the moment?

I have a couple of favourite songs just now. A couple aren't all that new but some are. I've been loving Best Song Ever by One Direction (feel free to judge me), We Can't Stop by Miley Cyrus and Love You Like a Love Song by Selena Gomez & The Scene. My music taste is all over the place.

5. What would your ideal career be?

I would love to be able to get through the next 4 years of University so I could be a forensic investigator, solving crime and stuff like that. haha

6. What are your favourite American TV programmes?

I like very many TV programmes, most of them are American. I shall list a few that I watch every time its on: New Girl, The Big Bang Theory, Greys Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Bones and Supernatural. That is only a few of the many that I watch.

7. What is your favourite nail polish brand?

This isn't specifically a brand for nail polish, but I personally think Barry M do the best nail polishes. The formula is lovely and they last for a really long time.

8. Skater dress or bodycon?

100% skater dresses, they look really flattering on every body shape.

9. What is your favourite make-up product?

I love eye shadows. I barely ever use them, but I have so so many of them. I'm really wanting to learn to do some different things with eye shadows so my ever expanding collection will be great for this. Otherwise I would say that lipstick is my favourite make-up thing.

10. Boots or Superdrug?

This is quite difficult for me. I would usually say that Boots was my favourite, but recently I've really been enjoying going into Superdrug. So at the moment Boots and Superdrug are on the same level for me, since my love for Superdrug has been growing.

11. Bright nail polish or nude nail polish?

I'm not overly sure with this one, I like colours but I don't fancy the Neons or the really pale nudes. I'm to pale to pull them off. So I would say I'm somewhere in the middle on the nail polish scale.

The 11 people I have nominated are:

  1. What is your favourite saying/quote?
  2. What do you have more of, high end or drugstore make-up?
  3. What product have you bought more than once?
  4. What's you're favourite perfume?
  5. What is your favourite skin care item?
  6. What is your favourite make-up brand and why?
  7. What is your favourite film?
  8. What is your favourite lip product?
  9. Heels or flats?
  10. Dress or Skirt?
  11. What are you most looking forward to for Autumn/ Winter?
Please let me know when you have done the questions so I can check them out :)

OOTD - 18th Birthday Dinner

So today I've reached a milestone in my life. Today I turned 18!!! I'm excited for going out for dinner and ordering a drink. They will look at me and think - why is that little girl trying to order an alcoholic beverage? I shall internally laugh and and whip out my ID. So yes, tonight I'm going out for dinner with my mum and my brother.
I tried to dress up a bit, since I may as well, you only turn 18 once. My mum got me a pair of beautiful black heels for my birthday. I adore them, they are possibly my most prised possession. I have an unhealthy addiction for shoes. They are quite high - they have about a 6 inch heel - and I'm not 100% sure how well I'll be able to walk in them, but hey I'll learn.
My dress is also from ASOS, and I bought it the week before my birthday. I think its the type of dress that you could wear for both casual and dressy events - depending on how you styled it. I saw it on Zoella's YouTube channel awhile ago and instantly wanted it. I really wanted the blue one, but it was always out of stock. Sigh. When the black one arrived I was more than a little thrilled with it, it is utterly beautiful. Its not like any dress I own, but I think its good different.
I wore no accessories, I didn't think it needed any plus I didn't really know what to pair with it.

Soap and glory, body butter and scrub

I've always loved Soap and Glory and always have one or two products from them. Two of my favourites are the Sugar Crush Body Buttercream and The Breakfast Scrub. These are the two I regularly buy and I love them to pieces.

Sugar Crush Body Buttercream is a beautifully soft, light and utterly delicious cream. Its a sweet explosion of limey citrusy goodness. This thick butter is heavenly, I really enjoy smothering my legs, arms and generally everywhere with this. The smell for some may be a little over whelming, but I absolutely adore the scent. The tub costs £10.50, which may seem a little pricey, but it lasts such a long time. Worth every penny.

The Breakfast Scrub is on the complete opposite end of the scent scale. This is a beautiful, heavenly, delicious biscuit smelling scrub. If it was acceptable to eat this then I totally would. The scrub isn't overly harsh, but it is quite abrasive so if your not a fan of a harsh scrub then this may not be for you. This is my 3rd or 4th tub of this, and I will continue to keep buying them. For £8 this is a complete steal. This helps to keep your skin in the best possible condition, its quite moisturising as well.

Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser

I've had really dry skin for quite awhile. My legs are the worst though, they flake - kind of like a lizard shedding its skin. Gross. But no matter how much I tell myself that I need to apply moisturiser, I never EVER stick to it. I'm just too lazy. So when I saw people on YouTube talking about Nivea's in shower body moisturiser I thought I could give it a go.
It is so simple and easy to use, its fragrance free which is good since you obviously wash with soap in the shower and don't want to be a bundle of scents. It claims that you don't need to wait for it to soak in, like other moisturisers.
I don't quite agree with this, if I were to dry myself off then straight away get dressed my skin would feel sticky and like a was all sweaty. So I do think there is drying time needed for it to fully soak into my skin, but I do think it is so much easier than applying moisturiser all over after showering. I have the one for dry skin, since my little legs are so very very flaky. I'm not sure if the stickiness would go away if I used the one for normal skin.
I would say if you have moisturisers in your house not to bother going out and buying this since its probably just as good to moisturise when your dry.

Essie Jamaica Me Crazy Polish

I love nail polish - despite being absolutely terrible at it. And I thought I would invest in an Essie nail polish, I found the colour Jamaica Me Crazy and fell in love with it immediately. I don't have a colour like it in my collection and hadn't seen one like it before.

"Jamaica Me Crazy" is a beautiful dark pink, almost purple, colour with a little bit of shimmer running through it. Or at least that's how I see it. The colour is VERY pigmented, I think you could maybe go with just one coat on your nails. If you want an even brighter more beautiful colour then two coats  is right for you.
Apologies for the terrible quality, my camera was not being co-operative.
This is such a pretty polish that you could pull off any time of day. This will be so pretty in Autumn and Winter, getting excited for the colder weather already.

Do you have any Essie nail polishes, if so what's your favourite?

Skinetica Sample Review

I recently got myself a wee sample of Skinetica, I was really interested in trying it after reading on a few peoples blogs how well it worked for them. My skin isn't overly spotty, but I do get a lot of spots on my forehead and a couple on my chin.
When it arrived I was more than a little excited to try it out, and the first thing I did was read the little leaflet that came with it. The leaflet had information on the product and information on products that are usually found in skin care products.
Skinetica contains no harsh chemicals, so that means no Salicylic acid, sulphur or Benzoyl peroxide. I was a little shocked, it was probably quite naive of me to have thought salicylic acid wasn't harmful for my skin, to realise this as 99% of the skin care things I use have salicylic acid in them.
I use Skinetica once a day, only because your not meant to moisturise when using this. I love to moisturise so it saddens me to not - sad I know.
Skinetica says that you will start to see results after 2-3 days. I've been using this for awhile now and I do think there is a massive difference in my skin. And I 110% agree that you will start to see a difference after such a short time - I would even say after 1 day of using it that I noticed a difference.
The product is quite liquidy, and smells medically. Not bad, but not overly brilliant either. In the UK you can get a small sample sized bottle of Skinetica for £1 and the full sized bottle for around £8/9.
I think I'll buy the full sized version of this later once I've used up the rest of the stuff I have. And when I see how it well it works at that time of the month since that is usually when I have a massive break out and end up as more of a spot than a face.

Lipstick Love

Hi, my name is Sarah and I'm a lipstickaholic. My love affair with lipsticks is one that is making my bank balance rather sad. Over the last few months I have considerably increased my lipstick collection. I have sticks, stains, pencil style ones and glosses. I will admit that the majority of my lipsticks are red. I own both high end and drug store lipsticks, though most of them are drug store. I'm the type of girl that would rather buy 2 or 3 cheaper lip sticks rather than buying one high end one.
I'm going to show the ones I have by splitting them up into brands, I think that will be the easiest way to show them and that way as well I wont be all over the place, also if I have multiple colours I can talk about them all in the one go rather than doing each of them one after another.

Revlon Lip Butters

I have only have two lip butters, one of which may have gone missing from my mums make-up bag and some how found its way to mine. Cotton Candy is the colour I would reach for if I were only wanting a slight wash of colour. Its a really lovely light pink colour, I adore it especially for those days where I can't really be fussed trying to apply lipstick carefully. One of my favourite colour that I have is Candy Apple, its a beautiful red colour, I think it maybe has slightly orangey undertones. Its a beautiful red colour, I think its more wearable than some of my other reds since its not quite as bright.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

I got this awhile ago when they originally came out, and recently I have rekindled my love for them. I only have the one colour from the collection since at the time that I got this the colours were quite limited. I really like the smell of these, the smell very minty some people don't like that but I love it. The colour lasts for a very long time and I find that you don't need to touch it up very often. I have the colour Romantic, its a red - who would have guessed -its a lighter red, so again is more wearable than most other reds.

Revlon Colour Lustrous Lipsticks

I've never had one of these lipsticks before, at least until recently. I bought this because of the colour, Kiss Me Coral, it is such a beautiful burnt orange colour. From what I can tell it is quite long lasting. Honestly though because of the colour I couldn't care less how long it lasted, since this is maybe the most beautiful colour I own.

Maybelline Colour Sensational

I have the colour 540 Hollywood Red, this colour is a dusty pink colour. I think it is maybe the most sophisticated colour I own, its a very grown up colour. I don't wear it very often but when I do I feel so grown up and happy. Its one of the lipsticks I wear to feel a little more confidant with out being bold in a red lip.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick

This is one of the newer additions to my collection. I would say that the colour is a dark berry red, the colour is really pigmented and lasts a fair while, I would say you only need to touch this up once of twice through out the day.

Rimmel Apocalips

As soon as these came out I was desperate to get my little paws on them, and boy am I glad that I did. My mum has some of the colours and I got a couple. The ones I have are Stellar and Big Bang. I have a whole blog post on these since I loved them so much, so if you are interested you can go check that out if you like. Stellar is such a beautiful colour, its very much so a pink colour but I think it has red in it to- as my mum was convinced that it was a red shade. Big Bang is an amazing bright red colour. They last a long time since they are like a gloss and stain hybrid. They are very creamy and they are surprisingly moisturising.

Barry M Lip Paints

I have 3 lipsticks by Barry M, the first of which I've had for a couple of years - maybe not as long but I've had it for awhile. I used to use this religiously, every day for months. I've only got a little bit left of it, I don't know what the shade is since the name has rubbed off, but its the green on that turns pink. I loved using this since it would get darker throughout the day - it also takes a heck of a lot to take it off (I think its like a stain).
Another I have was a complete fluke buy, I don't know if I like the colour or not. The colour is shade 53, it is a pinky coral colour and it is unlike any colour I have ever bought or worn. I think that may be half the reason I'm unsure of it, due to the fact that I more so wear reds.
The final Barry M lipstick I have is in the shade 121, this is a bright red colour. I think the amount of red lipsticks I have is ridiculous. I this is quite a matte colour, and it is quite drying - which is sad since its such a lovely colour ( I have really dry lips normally so this really isn't good for my wee lips).

Benefit Lip gloss

This is the only proper gloss that I own, I have dandelion. I wear it over matte red lipsticks, just a little in the middle of my lips to give just a bit of depth and shine.

YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick

Another of my many eBay purchases, this is maybe one of my best purchases. I got it for a total bargain, I still class this as a high end purchase - I paid £12 for it so its kind of a joke - this is like my baby. The packaging is beautiful and the formula is so creamy and lovely.

MAC Lipstick

Yet again another eBay purchase, for a few pounds I got my hands on one of the limited edition Lady GaGa lipsticks. The one I have is in the shade Sheer Plum. This looks nothing like a plum colour when you just look at it, when you apply it though it looks slightly more plumy. I would say this is not a plum colour and more so a  pink with orange undertones. I've not used this in a fair while so I've not got much of a clue when it comes to its lasting, but it is a very creamy lipstick.

ELF Matte Lip Pencil

I have not used this in a very long time, the colour is natural, it is a nude lip colour. I've become much more of a red and orange colour lipstick gal, so nude colours have been pushed aside and hidden away in the back of a box.

Are you a lipstick addict like me?

Small Haul | Beauty and a couple of clothing items

I did a little bit of shopping recently, I controlled myself though. And since I did get quite a few things I thought I would share what I bought with you. I've not seen very much clothing wise recently that I like, but with make-up and skin care there are to many things that I want to buy.

Most of the beauty things are from Superdrug, I don't usually go to Superdrug as I often forget about it. But recently I've been loving going in.

I'll have posts up of some of the items mentioned in the video later on. If there are any in particular that you'd like to see a post on please let me know.

Have you tried any of these products? Please let me know what you thought of them.

Lauren Conrad: Style

I have to say I'm very fashionably challenged. I have almost no sense of style, when my fashion sense does kick in I seem to get it right - at least I think I do. I had taken to reading blogs to inspire me into wearing clothes other than leggings and tank tops. I think it has helped at least a little, since I've moved to wearing the odd skirt.
I've recently been reading A LOT of Lauren Conrad, and decided since I loved her blog so much I decided to buy her book. Lauren Conrad's style book is my new best friend. For a girl like me - who is utterly clueless when it comes to fashion - this book is a god send.
My wardrobe is a pretty boring array of tank tops, over sized tops, a couple of worn once dresses, skirts that I have almost never worn and jeans. To some my wardrobe may seem like a lovely thing, but I hate it, not because the pieces aren't nice, but because I literally have no clue how to dress myself. So I just reach for the same few things over and over again. I will literally wear the same things over and over till they have lost all shape or become holey - I have even sunk so low that on the odd occasion have continued to wear holey clothes.
Within the first few pages of this book I realised I wasn't doing much right when it came to what I wore. Nothing flattered. And I didn't have any of the "essentials" or as Lauren calls them "key pieces". - and if I did I didn't like what I had or had very few that I did. I don't have a collared shirt, granted I have been searching for the perfect one but so far my high standards have not been met. I don't have any plain black/white tops, shame on me. No black heels, though I have been eyeing a pair for awhile this book may have been what I needed to take the plunge and buy them - if they are pricey I'll be more likely to wear them. My blazers are probably two of the most hideous things I may have ever seen, one is a horrible ill fitting sky blue thing that is falling apart at the seams - literally - and the other is a what should be 3/4 sleeve thing with padded shoulders, but since I'm so small it looks about 3 sizes to big - when I say small I mean in height, so my arms are smaller than the average human being. I don't even have a good jacket, what Scottish person doesn't have a nice jacket. Oh that's right me? I have a jacket that I love but no one else does but its really a winter jacket, and I'm beginning to see why everyone else dislikes it.
I will say that Lauren Conrad is one of my fashion icons. I think that no matter what she wears she pulls it off and manages to look amazing every time. Be it a causal look or a more dressed up one. Everything she wears is perfect. And I want it all.
This year I'm going to make a conscious effort to update my wardrobe and make it the wardrobe of my dreams, with a little help from Lauren (of course).
Do you have any staple pieces that you just couldn't live without?

Tangle Teezer

I have always had extremely tuggy hair, and have always had to rip a brush through it. I decided enough is enough and bought myself the miracle that is a Tangle Teezer. I use it to brush my hair after I come out the shower, since that is usually when I find it worse, this makes it so much easier to brush through and it doesn't hurt (at least not nearly as much). I would say the only down side, if I can even call it a downside, is that the bristles don't quite catch deep enough in the top of my hair - this isn't a huge deal for me though since the most tuggy part of my hair is towards the bottom.

For around £10 this is a complete bargain and worth every penny you pay.

Nails of the day

I'm not one for ever doing anything fancy with my nails. It doesn't even need to be fancy, usually all I do is paint my nails with one colour. I thought since, for once, I've kept this on my nails for a fair while that I would share the results with you all.
Apologies for the awful picture, but this was the best one I managed to take.
I wasn't overly adventurous with my nails but I think it still looks pretty nice. Since I've gained a little bit of a tan I thought I would go for a colour I wouldn't normally - white - since it would look ridiculous on my normally pale skin.
I jazzed it up with a glitter polish on my ring finger, since I figured all white would be too much.  Especially for a pale gal like me.

nail strengthener. OPI nail envy

I used a couple of coats of China Glaze White On White and for my ring fingers a few coats of Topshop's Razzmatazz (I used a few coats to get a really thick glitter). And of course before applying any polish I put a coat of OPI Nail Envy, I honestly love this to pieces this has changed my once brittle nails to being super strong.
There will maybe be a few more NOTD posts over the next few weeks, since I am trying so hard not to neglect my precious polishes.
