Happy New Year!

So long 2013, and hello to 2014. I just wanted to do a quick post as in less than 6 hours it will officially be the 1st of January 2014! It is so mad! I remember it becoming 2013 like it was only yesterday.
As far as good years go, 2013 was a pretty good year for me: I passed my exams, got into University, turned 18, passed all my tests in the first semester, oh and I got my very first grown up person job. And it was in one of my favourite places. My blog gained lots of new readers and it gained me posting fairly regularly.
I've found my confidence grow so much over the last year, and I am so grateful to everyone and anyone that has helped me gain this confidence. That includes all of you reading and commenting on my blog.
I can only hope that 2014 is as good to me as 2013 was ( and not as bad as 2012)...
I don't have any plans for tonight, probably just sit in with my mum - my little brother even has plans - we might do shots and have some karaoke, cause I mean come on whats New Year without a little sing along. then when the clock hits midnight I'll send out a massive group text to everyone I have on my phone. I might be normal and say Happy New Year, I might be weird and say something different - who knows.
But anyway - have a great day, and have an epic fantabulous New Year

Sales Haul | Boots, Lush, The BodyShop

So on Friday, I decided to hit up a few shops before work. The first place I went into was Argos - I really just wanted to get myself a Yoga ball. Carly, the bestest fitness blogger/ YouTuber ever said to me that getting a stability ball and some sort of weights would be brilliant.
So the first chance I got I went and bought myself a Pro Fitness gym ball for £5.99. This was the cheapest one I could find, as I didn't want to spend a lot on one - especially if a cheaper one would do the same job. Next on my fitness list is some weights and maybe a medicine ball. Both of which are a bit pricey.
Next place I went to was the bodyshop - the store I went to didn't have very much in the way of sales items but I did get a couple of things. First thing I picked up was the Ginger Sparkle Body Butter, this cost about £5 and it smells heavenly. When I first smelt it I wasn't 100% sure that I liked it, but I think it smells really nice - hopefully I'll love it when I slather it on my body.
The only other thing I got from the Body Shop sale was this little set of Passionfruit. It came with a body wash and a body butter - it smells amazing and for only £8 its a total steal.
Next shop was Lush. I'd never made it to the Lush sale before so I was adamant that I would for sure go this year. All Christmas stuff was 50% off so how could I say no? I think all of the Christmas stuff I could find I purchased one of.
The Melting Snowman was one I wasn't sure about getting. I find the smell a bit odd - I can't quite put my finger on what it is that I'm not fond of, to be honest with you I can't even tell you what I think it smells of. Thats maybe why I don't like it overly much - I can't identify a smell!
I think this one is called Candy Mountain? I can't find my receipt and they didn't label them for me - insert sad face. I think this smells amazing though - if you can't get your hands on this bad boy then try The Comforter - it smells so similar, if not the same.
The Golden Wonder. Not really sure why I picked this up. Probably because I was there and it was cheap. Ah - the sale logic. This is probably not going to be the best thing to sit in a bath with since it has so much gold glitter. Just touching it covers me in glitter. Not the best if I'm honest. I'm much more a fan of the bath stuff that you don't need to wash off yourself - like Blackberry Bath Bomb! It smells nice though, kind of zesty: a bit like lemonade.
Bombardino. Hello there little guy. Smell wise I don't really have strong feelings either way. Its not got an overly strong smell - maybe the other things I bought are drowning out its smell? Its a cute wee bath bomb, and is probably the one I'm going to enjoy using most. Its not glittery, and doesn't look like it would need to be rinsed off my skin. WOO!
The final Lush purchase was the Snow Globe soap. I love this stuff, its maybe the only Christmas thing from Lush that I tend to buy. I got just over 100g for about £1.30 - how good is that?! Its very lemony, and is very similar to Woosh shower jelly. That means I can get my Snow Globe fix all year round!!!!!!!!!
The final shop I went to was Boots - y'know best to have a wee wander round before I need to go into the back to start my shift. I wandered around the Christmas section, since thats where the sale stuff was, I didn't see overly much that I wanted. The only sale item I got was a Beauticology Gingerbread bathtime shop set, the set was meant to be £12 but was reduced down to £6. It contains 8 different body products: 2 shower gels, 2 body lotions and 2 body creams. Its safe to say that I am completely stocked up on body wash and cream.

The only other thing I bought from Boots wasn't in the sale but it was discounted so we'll class it as a sale item. I bought myself Hydraluron!!! My skin has been getting dry patches and I'm pretty sure my skin is a little dehydrated - so a boost of moisture couldn't hurt. I've not tried this yet but I'll let you know how I get on with it. I think its going to be £16.65 until the 31st - so get it now before it goes up in price.

12 Days of Lipstick #12

It seems to be normal now that I write these posts on the train or a bus. Today I had to get up at 7am in order to be ready to leave for work at 9 - I have to leave my house at 9 a whole hour before work so that I can travel there. Since I got up so early I basically just grabbed any lipstick.
I'm actually kind of suprised that I didn't pick one that I've already used for the last 12 (lol) days. The one I went for was Revlons super lustrous lipstick in kiss me coral. This is actually really really similar to MAC So Chaud - it's a really lovely orangey red. It's one of the colours that I wore almost everyday during the summer - so that shows that I really liked it!
So that's if for my 12 days of lipstick, be it a little behind.

12 Days Of Lipstick #11

So today was 99% lazy and 1% productive. I saw some family that I hadn't seen for quite a while, but thats really all I did. My lips were feeling quite neglected and sore so I wanted a lip product with a bit of colour but was also moisturising. My product of choice was the Bourjois Effet 3D lip gloss in the colour 06 Rouge. I got this free in a little gift that Bourjois had a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say I love it - my mum actually went out and got one for herself.
It feels soft on the lips and the colour lasts a fairly long time. Even though its a gloss, it doesn't look extremely glossy. Its not sticky and it doesn't transfer onto everything I drink. So many good things going for this lip gloss. Many boxes of positives could be ticked. The colour is a pretty pink almost red colour and I think its appropriate enough for every day wear.
So many small posts recently. Anyhoo, tomorrow is day 12!!!

What I Got For Christmas

I feel like I shouldn't have to say this, but I will anyway. I am in no way at all trying to brag about what I got - I know for a fact that I am extremely lucky to have been given as much as I have and I will love everything that I was given from the people I love. I love these posts so I thought I would do my version. Warning - this is going to be a very picture heavy post. Oh, I was going to do a Christmas OOTD but then I realised that the post would be the exact same as my birthday post was.
My mum completely spoiled me, not everything here is what she bought me - some is from other family and friends. My mum always gets me an egg themed gift and this year she didn't fail on that. I think I'll do a wee post on my new egg holder. Its so cool!! Because of the lush stuff and the air freshener my room now smells like a perfume factory. I got a few Soap and Glory things, two were slightly damaged - so I'm hopefully going to get them replaced. My mum also got me an epilator, I'd been after one for ages so I was really happy with this - its not nearly as painful as I expected it to be.

I hope you had a brilliant Christmas and I hope your New Year is great too!

12 days of lipstick #8,#9 and #10

Sorry for not posting yesterday and today - I basically forgot all about it and then I had work so no time to write up a full post. So Boxing Day and Friday were slightly missed out - so let's catch up. I Also didn't leave my house on Boxing Day so I didn't feel the need to put anything other than my nuxe reve de miel on my lips. So yeah for day 8 my lip product was my Nuxe lip balm - see a couple of days ago for info.
The 27th I went to work so I decided to sport my MAC So Chaud lip stick - I chose this because it has insanely good lasting abilities and the colour isn't like my usual reds. I hold a lot of love for this lip stick.
This picture really doesn't do it justice though - it looks more red than it actually is. In person - if you have this - it is really more orangey. So beautiful. Can we all please take a minute to appreciate how lovely it is?
So today, day 10 the 28th. I didn't do much. Had a bath with some of my wonderful Christmas presents - they were bath items, would be weird of me to bathe with non bath products. I did some exercise and I filmed a couple of YouTube videos. So makeup was worn - it was minimal and lip colour was applied. The lip colour I decided to go for was Maybelline's Colour Sensational in 540 Hollywood Red. Its a very pretty dark pink / purple colour. I think it looks very elegant and classy. Some what more grown up than my other lipsticks.
Sorry about there being 3 days in the one post. Tomorrow will be different. (hopefully)

The beauty TAG

A while ago I was reading blogs and came across this TAG on someone's blog - I can't remember who's blog since I just copied the questions but I'm sure many people have done this one.

How many times do you wash your face daily?
I try to wash my face twice a day - about half the time I do manage to wash my face twice daily other times it's only once.

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily or combination)
Oily. My forehead and cheeks get oily really quickly and my chin gets quite oily quickly as well. Recently though I've noticed my skin changing slightly - it's becoming slightly less oily and more normal I guess.

What is your current facial wash?
I only tend to have one facial wash going at a time - just now that one is soap and glorys peaches and clean :) I do love the garnier one - I can't remember the name of it, but I know it's in an orange bottle and is for oily skin.

Do you exfoliate?
Yes, I love exfoliating!

What moisturiser do you use?
Just now I'm using the Simple oil free moisturiser, it's nice but I'm not sure I'll buy it again.

Do you have freckles?
Yes, a few on my nose and on my cheeks.

Do you use eye cream?
I don't - but I'm going to buy one.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Yes and no. My skin is really oily so it's more prone to spots. I get the odd spot but never a full on break out.

Did you ever use ProActiv?
Nope - it's so expensive! And I've never felt I needed something like that.

What foundation do you use?
I switch between the Lord and Berry foundation and the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum.

How about concealer?
I don't tend to use concealer - but when I do it's usually the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer.

Do you know your undertone colour?
I don't have a clue - and if I'm being honest I don't even really know what this is asking.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I like them for a night out, I've not quite found the perfect pair yet.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yeah - but I don't. Unless it's not working for me anymore or irritates my eyes then it gets to stay.

What brand of mascara do you use?
Just now I'm using a Bourjois one - but my all time favourite is by YVES Rocher.

Sephora or Mac?
We can't get sephora in the UK so I'm going to have to say MAC.

Do you have a MAC Pro-Card?
Nope - I didn't even know there was such a thing.

What make-up tools do you use in make-up application?
I only own Real Techniques brushes.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yeah - I use primer for my eyes before applying shadow

What is your favourite eye shadow? (Colour or Shade)
Neutrals, my favourite palette is my Stila In The Light one. I want to try a naked palette but they are so expensive

Do you use pencil or liquid eye-liner?

How often do you poke your eyes with an eye liner pencil?
Never - since I don't actually apply pencil liner

What do you think of pigment eye shadows?
I love them but too messy for me!

What is your favourite lipstick?
I love MAC Rebel or Revlons Just Bitten Kissable Balm stains.

How about lip gloss?
Not overly fond of it - but I do have a couple

What is your favourite blush?
My Milani blush or the blush from my sleek face form palette
Do you buy make-up on e-bay?
I have in the past but not recently

Do you like drug store make-up?
Yes! It's basically the only makeup I buy

Do you go to CCO's? (Cosmetic Company Outlets)
I didn't even realise we had these! I'll definitely be finding my local one and hitting it up

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
Yes - I'd love to be better at it but the classes are really expensive

Are you clumsy in putting on make-up?
I don't think I am...

Name a make-up crime that you hate?
Um... I don't like seeing foundation that is waaaay to dark with bright pink barbie cheeks and foundation lips

Do you like colourful shades of make-up (lipstick, eye shadow) or neutral tones?
For the eyes, I'm definitely more a neutrals girl, but for the lips I'm definately more willing to be much more adventurous

Which celebrity always has great make-up?
All of them?

If you could leave the house with just ONE Make-up item, what would you use?

Could you ever leave the house without any make-up on?
Yeah I think I could, if not with no makeup I could go with only wearing foundation

Do you think you look good even without any make-up on?
I don't look awful, bit I don't look great either ( I don't really mind going to the shops to get a few bits and bobs on with no makeup on)

In your opinion, what is the BEST make-up line?
Um either Bourjois, Rimmel or Maybelline. They have amazing products at great prices

What do you think of Make-up?
I really like makeup - You can do so much with it!

So there's the TAG - if you do it or have done it let me know and I'll be sure to check it out!

Secret Santa #2

This is the second of two blogger secret Santa's that I took part in this year. This one was organised by Georgia and Laura, I was paired with Charlie from Charlie Eterna.  When my little package arrived I was so excited I actually forgot to take pictures of them before I opened them up. Whoops.
Charlie took an approach to her secret Santa that I didn't expect - I was really happy though with what she got me. Charlie got me items to help with University, note pad, tote bag, desk planner - and possibly my favourite item, the travel card holder. She also got me a candle - cause y'know what's a blogger without a candle? The little cards Charlie gave me as well are so cute, and the one with moustaches is just the most perfect thing ever.

I loved doing Secret Santa's this year
I hope you have a good Christmas and a lovely New Year

20 Things Before I'm 20

So on my last birthday I turned 18, and just before my birthday I did the 18 Things Before I'm 18 TAG on my YouTube. I didn't really managed many of them - I think I only managed to get about 4 or 5 of them done. Since I have two years to do the 20 things I've chosen I think I should have plenty of time to do them all.

   1.  Pass my driving test and get a car. These are kind of cheat ones - since I'm hoping to have this one done by April at latest.

   2. Go on a holiday, the last time I went on holiday I was 16 and it was in a caravan. I really want to go abroad since I've never been on a plane.

  3. Run a 5k in under half an hour.

  4. Get a make-up storage system that I'm happy with.

  5. Buy a new camera, and maybe some lighting.

  6. Fly about in a hot air balloon - why would you not want to do this?

  7. Meet a few bloggers in person

  8. Get first Tattoo

  9. Learn to cook - meals, desserts anything. I want to be able to cook at least 5 dishes from scratch.

10. Pass my finals this year - means getting into second year!!!

11. Reach 1000 followers on both GFC and bloglovin' - I would probably cry if this happened.

12. See some of the worlds wonders

13. Attach a lock to the love bridge in France

14. Write on Juliet's wall - there seems to be a theme here seeing cool things in different countries

15. Own a Polaroid camera

16. Kiss someone at midnight on New years

17. Donate Hair to charity

18. Be able to do the splits - kind of a silly one but I've wanted to be able to do this for ages ( and it would so help me in cheer)

19. Make New Years resolutions and stick to them!

20. And finally - just be happy with who I am and don't give a damn what anyone thinks of me. After all the only persons opinion that matters is my own - and my mums.

What do you want to achieve before your next big birthday?

12 days of lipstick #6 and #7

So yesterday by the time I got in I was so tired all I wanted to do was sleep so I didn't have time to take pictures for and write up this post. So yesterday I had another 6hr shift and since it was Christmas Eve I decided I wanted to wear a red lip, a bold one. But y'know I wouldn't have had time to keep up a bold lip so I went for a nice red lip gloss.
Sorry that this picture isn't very clear.
The one I decided on was the Australis Mint Condition Lip Gloss - I was sent this in a swap about a month ago. Its a lovely red, not to bright and doesn't require a lot of touch ups since the colour is quite staining. I applied it three times yesterday: morning, noon and evening.
Today, Christmas Day, I decided I'd wear my new lipstick that my mum gave me in my stocking. It was the Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in the colour Dark Night Water-loops. This is just such a beautiful dark purple that fades out to a dark ruby pink. If you don't have it you really should get it.
I hope you don't mind the selfie with my gran, its the only picture with me wearing it that I have.
I'll see you for day 8 tomorrow!

Secret Santa #1

I call this one number 1 as I took part in two different blogger secret Santa's. One that Georgia & Laura had organised, and the other that Gemma and a couple of other girls organised. This first post is going to be about the items I received from the Secret Santa organised by Gemma - this one was a complete secret and I didn't know who was buying for me until my little gift arrived.
Please excuse the rubbish picture - I took it as soon as the parcel was delivered in the morning not even 2 minutes before I ripped open the items. I was so amazed to see how many little presents there were - I never seem to be able to get very much for the amount of money given. My Santa was Danielle - sorry to the person I sent to I was very vague with who I was. After finding out Danielle was my secret santa I took to her blog and had a wee read, I really enjoy reading her blog - so if you're looking for a new blogger to read definitely check her out!
I think this is everything that Danielle sent me - sorry if I've missed something I may have used a couple of the things I was sent.
I love all the stuff Danielle sent me and I can't wait to try everything out - I've wanted to try stuff by Lee Stafford and Umberto Giannini for ages and now I have a couple of bits to try out so thank you so so much! Danielle covered all the bases - hair care, body, lips and facial products. Makes me think my Secret Santa isn't all that great - so sorry to you when you get it.

I'm going to leave a little space in between both secret Santa's so look out for my next one!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara Review

Awhile back, I was browsing ASOS (what else is a girl meant to do when bored?) and noticed that Rimmel items were discounted. It was then I decided to add the Retro Glam mascara to my basket and buy it - without doing any research on it (something I usually do). When it came I just put it aside as my absolute favourite mascara - YVES Rocher Sexy Pulp - hadn't ran out yet. It was when a uni friend said that she had heard bad things about it that I put it even further into my collection. I've never done a negative review before because I generally tend to do a lot of Googleing on a product before finally picking it up - that is probably where I went wrong with this. But I suppose there are going to be a few bag eggs here and there - it helps you find the superb eggs.
Recently my Sexy Pulp started to run out - and since the Glam eyes one had a similar brush I decided to start trying it out. The first thing I noticed was it was very wet, other bloggers said it maybe just needed to dry out and then I might like it. After it started to dry out, I noticed it started to clump - for me any mascara that is really bad with clumps is a huge no no. I could at first forget the clumps - it gave a really good voluminous finish - all be it my lashes looked fake because of how dark they looked. It was when I noticed how much the mascara flaked that I decided I just couldn't use it any more. I had only used it for about 2 weeks and it got really really dry so so quickly - I can imagine you would need to repurchase this really often.
I'm sorry if this post seems a little bit ranty or rambly ( its 1:20 am and I'm buzzing off energy drink after work). My next review will hopefully be a positive one.

Whats your favourite mascara, I'm in the market for a new one.

12 Days of Lipstick #5

So, I didn't leave enough time to do this post before I had to leave for work - so this post is currently being written on a train and I'll possibly have to switch to a bus before this post is completed.
So today I went for a red lip, a subtle easy red lip though. I decided that since I usually reach for my kissable balm stain for my red lip I decided that I would go for a change and use my Revlon lip butter in the shade Candy Apple.
This is just such a nice soft red lip - has anyone ever described a lip colour as soft?
It's super easy to apply and lasts a reasonably long time.
I hope no one minds work place pics for this post - if I don't take pictures in work I don't think this post would have any pictures to go with it. So I forgot to take pictures during my break and by the time I got home it was 1am. So here we go.
Apologies for my dead face, I had less than 3 hours sleep and was not happy at having a 6hr shift to do.

Till the next post!!!

Recently Read | John Green

So I really like reading other bloggers posts on books and suchlike. So I thought that I would share the books that I have been reading recently. I think I'll do the last 3 -5 books that I've read: depending on how long it takes me to read the books I plan on reading.

First up is Paper Towns by John Green, I have had this for ages but for what ever reason I've taken ages to get into it and read it properly. Recently though I've been reading when I'm on the bus on my way to work. Spending about half an hour on a bus to and from work 3 times a week means I have a lot of spare time to do things like reading books. Paper Towns, is a book that took me awhile to get into - but when I did get into reading it I really really enjoyed it. I don't know how I can explain it without giving away the story - so if you want to know about this book you could maybe Google it and get an idea if its for you. :)

I wrote this post a few weeks ago - and haven't had enough time to pick up another book since finishing this one. My next post of these will have more books - I really need to read more. Last year my new years resolution was to read a book a month - I think I only read 5 books - ooops.

Next year will be 100% better for reading.

12 Days of Lipstick #4

So I had another lazy day today. Only left the house to walk my dog - so really there was no need for make-up meaning the only thing to touch my lips was lip balm. The lip balms I sported today were first of all the Lucas Paw Paw - seen in yesterdays post - and the super luxurious Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm.
I've been using this lip balm for around 5 or so months, every morning and night. I have definitely noticed a difference in how my lips feel since I started using this. I adore the smell of it - sort of a zesty scent (smells kind of fizzy as well). I think I have a review of this on my blog so you can check that out if you like. This is a little expensive for a lip balm but it is so so so worth it.

Day 5 will be a lipstick post - I promise.

Possible Christmas Nails

Recently I've been thinking about different colours or designs and such like that I could use for Christmas Day nails. I don't have many nail polishes - or nail art things so I'm fairly limited when it comes to what I can do to my nails. I also suck at applying nail polish - it takes me quite a few applications to actually get a decent nail.
For this nail look - I used 3 different polishes. My mini OPI Nail Envy, China Glaze in White on White and a Barry M nail pant in Superdrug ( I think that's what it is called anyway).
I first applied the OPI Nail Envy polish - my nails are a little brittle and when I apply this my nails do strengthen up. Next I applied a couple of coats of the China Glaze White on White - I waited at least 5 minutes between coats to ensure that each coat was completely dry - I hate when it smudges. Bane of my life. Some nails did need a 3rd coat, as some weren't quite as opaque that I wanted.
The final step was a couple of coats of Barry M's Limited edition gold polish. 2 coats is fine, but 3 coats is better for a nicer finish. You will probably need a top coat since it is a little scratchy - the little gold flakes could also possibly flake away and fall off. That wouldn't be good if you were eating your dinner and little flakes fell in.
What are you going to be sporting on your nails this year?
